Molybdenum rod is manufactured as random length pieces or cut to customers' desired lengths. In addition, there are three different surface processes or finishes which are provided, depending on the desired end use of the molybdenum rod.
FOTMA produces pure and lanthanated doped molybdenum rod. The lanthanated doped molybdenum rods are targeted for use in higher temperature applications where ductility is retained after recrystallization for material with smaller cross sections
Appearance of Molybdenum Rods:
Divided forging molybdenum rod and polished molybdenum rod; forging molybdenum rod surface is allowed to have oxidize film and slight forging hammer mark; polished molybdenum rod surface presents metallic luster and has no oxidized phenomenon notably; The two surfaces have no defects, such as divided layer, crackle, burr and vertical crackle, etc.

Molybdenum plate/sheets are used for fabrication of sintering boats, high temperature furnace heating elements and heat shields. Molybdenum Spraying wire is used as a thin coating on the surface of automobile components subjected to wear, such as piston rings, gearbox synchromesh parts, selector forks, etc.
Molybdenum spraying wire is also sprayed onto machine parts such as bearing for repair purposes.
Due to its high abrasion and wear resistance, molybdenum has become an indispensable material for metal spraying technology. Thin layers of molybdenum are sprayed thermically on surfaces of mechanically strongly stressed automobile parts, such as piston rings, synchronizer rings, shift elements, to increase their abrasion resistance.
Furthermore, molybdenum spray wire is applied as an intermediate layer in the case of repairs of machine parts, such as bearing shells and shafts, because of the lacking adhesion of steel layers to steel without intermediate molybdenum layers.
